Here's Johnny....


This weekend Carissa got to bring home the class guinea pig, Johnny. I was a little skeptical at first, but she had taken responsibility all week at school by changing the paper, giving it water and feeding it so I decided it was ok. I was a little worried that Ryan was going to "freak out" but he was so excited. He wanted Johnny to sleep in his bed with him. We had to compromise and put the cage in Ryan's room. Poor Johnny, Ryan was after him the whole weekend. I am sure that little guy was ready to go back to school.








Of course, Ben had to give Carissa the lecture " Johnny is your responsibility, we are not going to take care of him" BLAH BLAH BLAH. One guess who was up before everybody playing with Johnny. Ben was even changing the paper and feeding him. I think Ben was the saddest when we took Johnny back to school this morning. Maybe, if he is a good boy, Santa will bring him one.

Family Night.....



When you think of family night you imagine your family playing a game together or watching a movie. We took it to a whole new level. Family night at our house includes not only our family, but Eshwari's (our housekeeper) family. You usually see her girls, but her husband, Ramesh, and her nephew,Prakash, decided to join the party.
It started out as usual, with the changing of the design in front of the house.

I am not sure why they chose this design, but from what I could understand it had something to do with the holiday season coming up and the honor for the country.
Next, it was tattoo time. Carissa wanted a henna tattoo or Mehndi as it is called here.
The color is made from the seeds of the henna plant and then ground up and made into a paint like substance. It is then packaged and sold. It comes in a package that looks like a cake decorators tube. The tip is cut and then the design is put on your skin. At first it seems like paint on your skin, but then after 30 minutes it dries and peels off. The color is left on your skin in the design that was made. It is not harmful since it is all natural. It will last for about 7 to 10 days.
