Swimmers, Take Your Mark.....

This past Saturday was the Big Bad Blue swim meet held at our school. This is an annual event that takes place to help our SAISA team prepare for the meet in Mumbai. Unfortunately, Carissa is not old enough to make the travel team, but as a 5th grader was allowed to compete in this meet. When school started Coach Elizabeth handed out the schedules with morning and afternoon practice times, each swimmer had to attend four practices a week. Easy enough, but Carissa the competitive little person she is decided she was going to attend both morning and afternoon sessions. I really didn't think she was going to last getting up at 5:30 am every morning, but once again she proved me wrong.

Carissa's hard work, motivation and determination paid off. She swam in 6 events and earned a medal in each one. We are very PROUD of her!

50 meter Freestyle 2nd place
50 meter Butterfly 2nd place
100 meter Freestyle 1st place
100 meter IM 3rd place
2 relays 4th place

1st day of School

Well another school year upon us here in India. This year is a "special" one because Ryan started kindergarden. All summer long he talked about going to the big school and meeting new friends. He even asked his cousin, Chantelle (who is 15), to pick out his first day of school outfit and of course she obliged. I thought he would be a little scared, but he proved me wrong. He marched into that school like he was on a mission and nothing was going to get in his way. The first week they only went until 12 noon. When I picked him up he was a little disappointed. He said, "That's it". It was like all the hype about school and it wasn't even all day. This past week, school was on regular schedule with art, pe, and music added into the day. Every day I ask, "What did you do today?" and I have gotten the same response for two weeks..." I ate lunch and had recess". Ahhhh, the joys of Kindergarden!

Thank you Sam, Mac, Ms. Megan and Ms. Megan for making my morning before school special!
